The Phenomenon of Grey Divorce in Western Culture: Its Conditions in the Light of Contemporary Studies

Abstract

The article addresses the issue of divorce in the second half of life, known as grey/silver divorce. Its aim is to identify the factors contributing to the prevalence of this phenomenon in Western culture. The article presents the sociocultural context of the phenomenon, and the analysis (desk research) allowed for the identification of a typology of factors determining grey/silver divorces. The summary emphasises the impact and importance of further sociological research on this issue.
