Abstract

The paper aims to characterize the development processes of small towns in the urban agglomeration of Berlin in 1990–2015, i.e. in the period of transformation changes in East Germany. The research has encompassed the urban municipalities with the population below 20 thousands in 1990. The analysis concerned the determinants and courses of development processes of particular towns in view of demographic and spatial aspects.
