Abstract

The introduction to the volume consists of two parts. The first one is devoted to the concise description of contemporary position of sociology of sport in Poland and abroad, pointing at the vitality and multidimensionality of the sport-related debates in the scientific discourses within social sciences. The second one concentrates on the brief presentation of the thematic content of the volume which illuminates the wide range of scientific reflection concerning sport in the contemporary discourse.

Wojciech Woźniak, dr, jest socjologiem, adiunktem w Katedrze Socjologii Ogólnej na Wydziale Ekonomiczno-Socjologicznym Uniwersytetu Łódzkiego. Główne zainteresowania badawcze to nierówności społeczne, dyskurs publiczny wobec kwestii społecznych, zjawisko paniki moralnej, fiński model społeczno-gospodarczy oraz socjologia sportu. Członek Fińskiego Towarzystwa Socjologicznego (Westermarck Society), Brytyjskiego Towarzystwa Socjologicznego (BSA) i Europejskiej Sieci Badaczy Polityki Społecznej (ESPAnet). Prowadził gościnne wykłady na uniwersytetach w Niemczech (Wolny Uniwersytet w Berlinie i Uniwersytet Justusa Liebiga w Giessen), w estońskim Tartu oraz na fi ńskich uczelniach w Tampere i Turku. W 2012 roku nakładem wydawnictwa Scholar ukazała się jego książka Nierówności społeczne w polskim dyskursie politycznym. W 2013 współredagował numer „Przeglądu Socjologicznego” zatytułowany „Globalization and Glocalization of Football. Polish and International Contexts”. Autor ponad czterdziestu artykułów w czasopismach i monografiach naukowych.
