The article presents some fragments of life of the outstanding priest, brave soldier of the Polish Legions and The Polish Army and fervent patriot. Being the priest he gripped a weapon (Kostiuchnówka – July 1916 and Przemyśl – November 1918). Father J. Panaś showed his superior courage many times. He did not care about his own matters. He noticed the harms of environment from which he had grown. He fought for the rights of Polish peasants. He was an outstanding editor, publicist and also the author of memoirs from the years of war 1914–1918. When Poland lost the independence in 1939 he joined the conspiracy. Father Panaś was killed at the hands of the Soviet invaders from the East.
