Abstract

The article presents a report on the 4th Łódź Gerontological Conference from the series “Reflections on Old Age” – “Changing Old Age – The Faces of Ageing Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow”, organized in 2025 by the Department of Andragogy and Social Gerontology, the Gerontology Section of the Committee on Pedagogical Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences, and the Association of Social Gerontologists. The conference provided an opportunity for scholarly debate on the broadly understood phenomenon of old age within a temporal perspective.

Author Biography

Marcin Muszyński, Uniwersytet Łódzki

Marcin Muszyński – habilitated doctor, professor at the University of Lodz. Since 2004 he has been working at the Department of Andragogy and Social Gerontology at the University of Lodz. He is currently employed as a university professor. Between 2010 and 2012, he served both as a coordinator and a participant in international projects dedicated to educational gerontology. He is a member of the Academic Society for Andragogy, a founding member of the Association of Social Gerontologists, and a member of the Polish Gerontological Society. He is the author of numerous works in the fields of andragogy and social gerontology. His research interests focus on the theoretical and methodological foundations of social gerontology as well as theories of adult learning. He is a deputy editor-in-chief of the journals “Exlibris Social Gerontology Journal” and “Narrative Works”. He has many years of experience conducting one-on-one coaching sessions and supporting (married) couples in dealing with conflicts and incidents. He completed studies in professional coaching and Gottman therapy courses. He uses his knowledge and skills daily in his work with clients at the Academic Support Center of the University of Lodz.
