The Forms of Expression of French Language Students’ Cognitive Engagement in a Listening Comprehension Task

The aim of this article is to identify how university-level students (of French as a Foreign Language) engage in completing a listening comprehension task. We will focus particularly on cognitive engagement, which we will attempt to operationalise in the context of the task in question. We will also attempt to shed light on the strategic behaviours adopted during the task execution, as well as those that may emerge in the context of independent work.
