"Recycling" by Tadeusz Różewicz as a satirical poem

Abstract

The article analyzes manifestations of satire in the poem recycling by Tadeusz Różewicz. Pointing to the close relationship between Różewicz's desire to expand the boundaries of poetry and a satirical attitude, the author argues that the poet is a master of sarcastic, serious, and committed satire, and he achieves the best artistic effects as a satirist when the satire manifested in his works has a counter- point in lyricism. According to the author, given the variety of tones and means by which satire is manifested in recycling, as well as ostentatious balancing on the border of poetry, the poem can be considered a breakthrough in the process of transformation of satire in Różewicz's poetry.
