Abstract

In this paper, we outline the results of a research that was carried out among CATI interviewers from 2009 to 2010. A total of 12 major Polish survey organizations, as well as two Norwegian and Icelandic survey centers participated in this project. The study employed a standardized, self-administered questionnaire.

This paper focuses on selected results from the project; it investigates the level of satisfaction that CATI interviewers experience from doing their job. The results were provided across six scales, which measured interviewers’ perceived level of job satisfaction across the following elements: “supervision,” “recognition,” “coworkers,” “advancement and variety,” “working conditions,” and “compensation.” This study demonstrates that Polish interviewers are satisfied with their coworkers and supervisors, however, they are not satisfied with their job based on the idea that they feel that they lack recognition, opportunities for career advancement, and variety. Norwegian and Icelandic interviewers’ job satisfaction level is slightly higher, within “supervision,” “recognition,” and “advancement and variety” scales in particular.
