About the Journal

Focus and Scope of the Journal

The profile of the journal „Folia Sociologica” (the first issue was published in 1980) covers a large spectrum of broadly understood social problems. It is the editors’ intention to publish the papers which are the effect of the original empirical research both team and individual. We are open to different theoretical and methodological paradigms.

Herewith we want to publish the articles embracing humanistic and social studies. We look forward the papers which refer both to classical and contemporary sociological thought and cover all its subdisciplines. We also find it important to present works undertaking the problems which combine sociology with other disciplines such as anthropology, ethnology, political science, psychosociology, demography, management science. The editors would like to point out however that the main objective is to set the journal profile in the sociological tradition, therefore articles of such character will have priority over other texts while deciding on the publication.

The prepared volumes may be of monographic character or be a review of publications concerning various spheres of social life. Each volume is edited by a person supervising its substantive correctness.

Scientific integrity

The editorial office reminds that the practices referred to as “ghostwriting” and “guest authorship” are a manifestation of scientific dishonesty, and therefore the editorial office makes every effort to eliminate such practices in the publication process.

We deal with “ghost writing” when someone has made a significant contribution to the creation of a publication, without disclosing his contribution as one of the authors or without mentioning his role in the acknowledgments included in the publication.

Therefore, the editorial staff asks you to include in the texts information about the co-authors of the research whose results are presented in the article, as well as to specify your own contribution to the obtained research results.

We also remind you that texts prepared by more than one author may be published.

We deal with “guest authorship” when the author's participation is negligible or did not take place at all, and yet he is the author or co-author of the publication.
