About the Journal

Focus and Scope of the Journal

Czytanie Literatury. Łódzkie Studia Literaturoznawcze is an yearly journal of the Institute of Polish Philology and Logopedics of the University of Lodz, which publishes only original works: theoretical, research and review articles, as well as interviews, reviews, polemics, reports and other forms of scientific statements concerning polish and general literature and the broadly understood issue of reading.

With regard to the name of the periodical, the intention of the editors is to present various literary traditions, both domestic and international, often in surprising aspects and non-obvious conventions, and thus to show the possibility of a different interpretation of literature, adopting a different research perspective - even in the case of the most classic works. The journal is, in a way, a forum for the exchange of views of researchers, and also allows authors, reviewers and – importantly – readers to engage in polemics about literature and its impact on other areas of the humanities.

The aim of the journal is to present and disseminate the literary output of both Polish and foreign authors and researchers, as well as to highlight the intertextual connections between various humanistic fields that make up the continuity of tradition and strengthening cultural awareness.

In addition, the periodical also serves to promote local values, through a section devoted to the military and post-war history of Lodz, and the achievements of researchers associated with Lodz research centers for years.

Cooperation with researchers from Poland and abroad influences the internationalization of the journal, which allows it to increase its recognition and range, as well as its reputation.
