Policy regarding peer review

Collectanea Philologica guarantees a rigorous review process according to the following principles:
1. Texts submitted to the editorial office should neither be previously published nor submitted to the editors of other journals.
2. Only papers that have been qualified by the Journal’s editors in the pre-review stage undergo peer reviewing.
3. The submitted manuscripts are evaluated fairly (fair play), exclusively on the basis of their academic merit and relevance to the scope of the Journal, without regard to the nationality, race, ethnic origin, gender, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, citizenship, or political views of the authors.
4. The article review procedure is anonymous, which means that the reviewer and the author of the publication do not know their identity (double-blind review process). Two independent reviewers are appointed to evaluate each publication. Reviewers are appointed by the Editor and are from institutions other than the parent unit of the author and prove no conflict of interest. Articles in languages other than Polish are reviewed by at least one researcher affiliated with a foreign institution. The rules of eligibility for the publication and the review form (download a file) are made public on the website of the journal. The names of reviewers of individual publications are not disclosed. In each issue, the editorial staff shall provide the names of cooperating reviewers.
5. Reviewers shall submit their opinion in writing in electronic and/or paper form, certified by their signature. The opinion should contain a clear recommendation to accept or reject the text.
6. Each author receives both reviews of his/her article (download a file). The author is obliged to respond to the remarks contained in the reviews and to send the corrected text within two weeks after receiving them. Failure to comply with this obligation may result in postponing the publication of the article to the next volume of the journal.
7. Articles must receive two positive reviews to be published. When an article has received one negative and one positive review, the Editorial Board may reject the article or submit it to a third review. Obtaining a second negative review results in not accepting the article for publication.
