The aim of this article is to examine the techniques and strategies of speech manipulation used in Albert Likhanov’s story Labyrinth. The study involves an analysis of the characters’ dialogues, narrative style, and the techniques employed by the author to influence the reader’s perception and emotions. This article offers a comprehensive analysis of the mechanism of speech manipulation, using Labyrinth as a case study. It focuses on techniques such as truisms, presuppositions, obfuscation, contraposition, and false choices, which are often associated with neurolinguistic programming.
The relevance of this article lies in the growing significance of speech manipulation, particularly in its impact on social consciousness and individual behavior. Manipulation is a powerful tool used to shape people’s thoughts and actions. Studying this phenomenon in literary works provides a deeper understanding of its influence on readers’ perceptions.
The research problem addressed in this article is the insufficient development of the study of manipulation techniques in literary works within the scientific community. The object of this research is Albert Likhanov’s story Labyrinth. This choice is motivated by the presence of truisms, presuppositions, obfuscation, contraposition, and false choices in the text, which serve to fulfill the author’s intentions. Special attention is given to identifying and describing the manipulative techniques used in the characters’ speech constructions, as well as their role and influence within the narrative.
The analysis reveals how the author employs truisms to create an illusion of truthfulness, presuppositions to shape perceptions, obfuscation to divert attention, and false choices to give the appearance of freedom. The study demonstrates that Albert Likhanov effectively uses speech manipulation techniques in his story, offering a deeper insight into the mechanisms of influence on readers through literary texts.
The techniques identified in Likhanov’s text enhance our understanding of verbal manipulation in literature and provide valuable insights for further research in this field.
