Abstract

The text is devoted to the 22nd edition of the Slavica Iuvenum conference, organized by the Department of Slavic Studies of the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Ostrava in 2021. This scientific colloquium is a unique platform for young linguists, literary and translation scholars, whose scientific activity is conducted in the field of Slavic languages.

The report presents the subject of each speech and gives a brief description of every issue taken into consideration, in addition to the most important threads of the analysis. This year papers were presented in Polish, Russian, Czech, Slovak and Serbian languages in the area of four scientific disciplines: linguistics, literary studies, cultural studies and translation studies. Discussed issues include morphological and lexical analysis, the problem of ethnolinguistics and ethnology, topics on the borderline of literature and film art or translating virtual reality texts. The presented papers gave an opportunity to get acquainted with the most recent research trends in Slavic languages, methods of translating various works and the linguistic image of the world created in literature.

The conference panel allowed for a more detailed discussion of selected topics, as well as for establishing contacts between students from many research centres. This year’s meeting resulted in the international publication of articles representing three subject areas.
