Abstract

Problems of Ukrainian citizens’ mass political consciousness establishing and evolving are analyzed in the article. Political consciousness and political culture are considered not only as democracy level indicators in Ukrainian society but also as the important factors of the values of democratic life formation. The reception of historical experience of Ukrainian society functioning and consideration of the current state of Ukrainian citizens’ mass political consciousness allows to highlight the common features and the most widespread characteristics of mass consciousness, the most important among which are pragmatism, marginalization, etatism, state paternalism, ambivalence, low level of consolidation and identification.
