The Shape of a Strategic Partnership. The United Statesʼ Approach to the Three Seas Initiative

Abstract

The article presents the role of the United States as a strategic partner of the Three Seas Initiative. The Americans have been involved in cooperation in this format almost from its inception. The partnership between the United States and the Three Seas Initiative spans the terms of two U.S. presidents from different political parties. The article addresses questions about the form Washingtonʼs stance toward the Three Seas Initiative took during Donald Trumpʼs first presidency and the subsequent term of Joe Biden, as well as whether there were differences between their administrationsʼ approaches. It also aims to determine whether, and to what extent, the form of partnership between the United States and the Three Seas Initiative has been shaped by ongoing global geopolitical trends. The study is based on the method of analyzing documents, source texts and public statements of political decision-makers.
