The article is dedicated to the edition of letters from Jan Lorentowicz to Stefan Żeromski and his family from the years 1906–1912. It constitutes the second part of a publication planned as a three-part series, encompassing the complete and extensive collection of Lorentowicz’s letters to the author of Popioły from the years 1898–1925, housed in the National Library. The editor of the first part of this correspondence is Zofia Bojara, who presented the relationship between Lorentowicz and Żeromski, characterised the discussed collection of letters, outlined the editorial principles of the publication, and prepared the letters from 1898–1903. The article herein continues her work. The letters from 1906–1912 are accompanied by factual commentaries, the most significant of which pertain to the complex, legally intricate issues surrounding the publication of Dzieje grzechu in “Nowa Gazeta”, whose literary editor was Lorentowicz.
