Invitation to participate in the Competition Professor Elżbieta Tarkowska – Edition VI

Institute of Philosophy and Sociology of the Academy of Special Education Maria Grzegorzewska, the Institute of Political Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences – the publisher of the "Kultura i Społeczeństwo" quarterly, and the Polish Sociological Society invite authors, scientific institutions, scientific societies and publishers to participate in the 6th Edition of the Competition for the Professor Elżbieta Tarkowska.

The award will be granted for an original (co-authored) scientific work in the field of social sciences on the problems of poverty and the resulting social exclusion, published in 2020 or 2021. The work should be published as a peer-reviewed scientific monograph, a peer-reviewed article in a Polish scientific journal or a chapter in a peer-reviewed collective monograph.

One prize of PLN 3,000 (in words: three thousand zlotys) will be awarded.

The prize will be a work of particular importance for shaping the scientific and public debate in Poland on poverty and social exclusion, distinguished by a high substantive level and at the same time "humanistic coefficient" – in accordance with the approach set out in the book edited by Elżbieta Tarkowska entitled “Understand the poor. About past and present poverty in Poland”.

Information on submitting works to the Competition:

The competition work along with the signed appropriate application form should be sent to the following e-mail address konkurstarkowskiej@pts.org.pl by September 20, 2022, hours. 23:59:59, after reading the Regulations of the 6th Edition of the Competition.

The form of an attachment to the Regulations should be completed depending on the case:

– Appendix 1 is completed by the author submitting the work for the Competition,

– Appendix 2 is to be completed by the person submitting the work to the Competition and the author of the work.

The deadline for announcing the results of the Competition and awarding the prizes:

The Competition Winner will be selected by the Chapter of the 6th Edition of the Competition appointed by the Competition Organizers. The award ceremony will take place during the International Day for Combating Poverty and Social Exclusion on October 17.

The Competition is serviced by the Polish Sociological Society, which carries out the competition procedure, coordinates the work of the Competition Jury and runs the Competition Secretariat.
