Afinia Gemina Baebiana była żoną cesarza Treboniana Galla oraz matką jego syna i współrządcy, Woluzjana. Współcześnie jej postać znana jest tylko z jednej inskrypcji (CIL XI, 1927), przez co wydaje się ona być niemal anonimowa. Celem autorki jest przybliżenie postaci Afinii Bebiany, a także przeanalizowanie jej miejsca w rodzinie cesarskiej przez pryzmat ról społecznych, które pełniła (rola żony i matki). Badania wskazują, że Afinia Bebiana pochodziła z rodu o etruskich korzeniach, co miało wpływ na imiennictwo jej syna, a źródła epigraficzne sugerują, że jej rodzina była związana z Peruzją. W artykule poruszana jest również kwestia hipotez na temat jej domniemanej córki, Wibii Galli. Z kolei brak źródeł o Afinii Bebianie po objęciu władzy przez jej męża wskazuje na jej marginalizację w historii cesarskiej.
