The article concerns the issue of the stylistic function of punctuation in poetry. Conclusions were based on the analysis of a set works by Janusz Słowikowski (a poet from Łódź, Poland) gathered in a volume entitled Parasolki, parasolki. Punctuation marks are used in the poems in order to express emotions, present the lyrical subject way of talking and create the impression of a spoken language. The article also takes into account different types of utterances ended by respective punctuation marks.
