Starting from 2012, the Institute of History of the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn (UWM) and the Institute of History of the University of Lodz (UŁ) have been co-organizing further scientific conferences in the series „The Private Life of Poles in the 19th Century”. On October 8–9, 2021, the 9th Polish National Scientific Conference took place, the venue of which was the Jan Matejko House Museum, Branch of the National Museum in Krakow. This time, the organizers proposed a new cognitive perspective of private life and everyday life of the era, namely its view through the prism of the „table” of Poles from various social groups and environments. The scientific conference brought together researchers from several Polish academic and museum centers (Łódź, Poznań, Kraków, Warszawa, Olsztyn, Rzeszów, Pułtusk, Częstochowa, Katowice), and even from a distant university in Mikołajów, Ukraine. In total, 21 papers were presented during the conference, which were divided into four thematic panels: „Food and health”, „National flavors”, „Around the table” and „Cuisine in everyday life of various social groups”.
