The article deals with the problem of happiness in the Polish plebeian comedy of the 16th and 17th centuries. It is based on the trials to prove that the border between hapiness and unhappiness is extremely unstable and easily changeable. Moreover, the aim of the article is to show that many works are dominated by the contradictions, which are the major determinants of the plebeian comedy.
