Abstract

The article discusses Content and Language Integrated Learning as a facilitating method overcoming language barrier in teaching foreign languages (also Polish as a foreign language) from early stages of education. Content and Language Integrated Learning is defined as learning language through content and content through language. Using language as a tool to gain new knowledge and skills helps to overcome communication barriers in genuine communicative situations. This article presents main principles of planning CLIL lessons and theoretical foundations of CLIL pedagogy, which determines educational success. The last part of article describes the author’s experience including planning and delivering CLIL lessons in a primary school in Kraków.
