About the Journal
"Turyzm" is the oldest Polish scientific journal devoted to tourism. It has been published by the Institute of Urban Geography, Tourism Studies, and Geoinformation since 1985. From 1985 to 1990, it was published once a year, as a part of the "Acta Universitatis Lodziensis" series (7 issues). Since 1991, "Turyzm" has been appearing twice a year (in 1991-2000 - 20 issues in 10 volumes). From 1991-2000, the articles included summaries in French and English.
In the years 2001-2022, the journal "Turyzm/Tourism" was bilingual (Polish and English). From 2023, only articles in English are published.
"Turyzm/Tourism" is an interdisciplinary scientific journal. It is one of the few publications in Poland intended for researchers representing a variety of disciplines and dealing with tourism issues, first of all for geographers, economists, sociologists and representatives of social sciences. The journal mostly presents the findings of the latest empirical studies on contemporary phenomena regarding a wide range of tourism, hospitality industry and recreation issues, including their local specificity and local context. The journal presents only texts which have not been published anywhere before: theoretical, research, review papers and scientific notes, containing partial findings of original empirical research, as well as reviews, reports and contributions to debates.
Since 2016, the online version of "Turyzm/Tourism" has been the primary version (e-ISSN 2080-6922).
The paper version, No ISSN 0867-5856, is the secondary version, issued for the needs of scientific libraries in Poland and individual subscribers, or according to an earlier, one-time order.
