About the Journal

Focus and Scope of the Journal

Acta Universitatis Lodziensis. Folia Philosophica has been issued as an annual since 1981, since 2017 is a semi-yearly journal. In its new form as Folia Philosophica. Ethica – Aesthetica – Practica has been published from issue 27(1) from 2015.

Folia Philosophica. Ethica – Aesthetica – Practica is a scientific journal devoted to the issues of practical philosophy, philosophy of culture and the broadly understood axiology. It is aimed at an in-depth philosophical reflection on problems of contemporary social life and the shape of public space. It publishes texts concerning research into ethical, aesthetic as well as legal and political aspects of contemporary social and cultural practices but also works dealing with the issues of practical philosophy and aesthetics from both historical as well as a strictly philosophical and theoretical perspective. We invite to cooperation both Polish and foreign authors connected with philosophy as well as representatives of other disciplines, including practitioners who are active in the public sphere. The journal aims to provide space for a confrontation of different perspectives from which the same or similar issues are perceived by representatives of different fields of knowledge, including philosophy, aesthetics, ethics, political and legal sciences as well as medicine, economy, urban studies, art history, or religious or cultural studies. It is also important that the same issues are analyzed by both theoreticians and practitioners who have to face them in their concrete activity in the public and social sphere. Authors may submit articles written in Polish, English, or German language.
