Abstract

The article presents the history of Polish feminist movements against the background of similar organizations in Bohemia and Hungary in 19^th and 20^th century. It describes their founders and members, cooperation between them and methods of activity leading to obtaining voting rights for women. Depicting similarities and differences between them, the article explains the complexity of factors creating the feminist movement in Central Europe. Their main goal was achieved only after the First World War. The authors mainly use texts by Polish feminists and literature in Polish, English, Czech and Hungarian. They used the comparative method during analysing the sources.

Dr hab. Marta Sikorska-Kowalska, prof. UŁ – historyczka, profesor uczelni w Katedrze Historii Polski XIX w. w Instytucie Historii Uniwersytetu Łódzkiego. Autorka m.in. biografii Aleksandry Piłsudskiej.

Zainteresowania naukowe: historia kobiet, historia polskiego socjalizmu, dzieje Łodzi.

Aleksandra Sylburska, University of Lodz

Dr Aleksandra Sylburska – historyczka, adiunkt w Katedrze Historii Powszechnej Najnowszej na Wydziale Filozoficzno-Historycznym Uniwersytetu Łódzkiego. Autorka monografii Działalność polskiej placówki dyplomatycznej na Węgrzech (1946–1956) (Łódź 2020).

Zainteresowania naukowe: historia relacji polsko-węgierskich w XX w., historia Europy Środkowej w XX w., historia dyplomacji w XX w., diaspora polska na Węgrzech.
