Database of education information system element in the assessment the availability of schools in rural areas of Łódź Metropolitan Area

This paper presents the issues related to the objectives of the Europe 2020 strategy, which points to the need to build a digital society. Part of building this kind of society is the creation and use of databases. Education Information System is one such database, which provides information on education and allows to determine the availability of schools in rural areas. This article is an attempt to answer if schools located in rural areas are characterized spatial availability, as well as the capacity to build pupil–teacher relationship. The text presents the analysis of two levels of education, it means primary and secondary schools. The article emphasizes possibilities use of Educational Information System for the management of education at the local level. The article emphasizes the fact that local authorities have access to database with more specific information, so local authorities can conduct advanced analysis. Databases allow for determination of the directions of migration in the various educational entities including rural areas or in urban-rural relationships.
It should be noted that all data stored in the state, regional and local resource permit to use them for the purpose of research, analysis and simulation in local government units. It is possible thanks the dissemination of statistical tools and geographical information systems.
