German women on the Eastern Front (1942–1943) in the light of the memories of Ilse Schmidt and Erika Summ

The aim of this article is to compare two diaries that describe everyday life of women on the west front. The analysis of secretary Ilse Schmidt and nurse Erika Summ memories gives a wider perspective look on a role and position of German women during the war with the Soviet Union. The source answer questions connected to migration to West and everyday life’s problems during the war – like relations between fellow workers, reaction to death or pregnancy in the time of conflict.
