CALL FOR PAPERS: Folia Iuridica vol. 115, 2026
We invite scholars, practitioners, and policymakers to submit manuscripts that explore the theoretical and doctrinal aspects of war and armed conflict, with a particular focus on political and legal doctrines. This special issue aims to analyze the philosophical, political, and legal foundations that underpin the justifications, conduct, and regulation of armed conflicts. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
- Political and Legal Theories of War: Examination of the historical and contemporary political and legal theories that justify the resort to war, including the just war theory, realism, and pacifism.
- Sovereignty and the Right to War: The role of state sovereignty in justifying armed conflict, including theories of intervention, humanitarian intervention, and the protection of human rights.
- International Legal Doctrines on Armed Conflict: The development and application of international legal frameworks governing war, including the laws of war (jus in bello), justifications for war (jus ad bellum), and international humanitarian law.
- Theories of Peace and Conflict Resolution: Doctrines related to peacebuilding, conflict resolution, and the legal and political processes following armed conflict.
- The Impact of Political Philosophy on War Doctrines: How various schools of political philosophy (e.g., liberalism, conservatism, Marxism) have shaped the legal and political doctrines of war.
- The Role of International Institutions in Conflict Regulation: The contribution of international organizations, such as the United Nations, to the legal and political doctrines that govern war and peace.
- Legal and Political Perspectives on Non-State Actors in War: The changing role of non-state actors (e.g., militias, insurgent groups, multinational corporations) in armed conflict and the corresponding evolution of political and legal doctrines.
- The Concept of Justice in War: The legal implications of concepts such as justice, retribution, and punishment in the context of armed conflict.
- Political and Legal Challenges of Modern Warfare: Theoretical and doctrinal responses to the new dimensions of warfare, including cyberwarfare, asymmetrical warfare, and the use of advanced technologies in conflict.
- Constitutional and Legal Responses to National Security: National security doctrines and their influence on the political and legal regulation of war, including the balance between civil liberties and the need for security.
