W artykule przeprowadzono analizę porównawczą stanu rozwoju funkcjonalnego uzdrowisk w Karpatach Polskich i Masywie Centralnym. Scharakteryzowano różnice jakie występują w tym zakresie między uzdrowiskami polskimi i francuskimi. Szczególną uwagę zwrócono na zależności zachodzące między poziomem rozwoju funkcji osiedlotwórczych uzdrowisk, a ich funkcjonowaniem jako ośrodków lecznictwa balneologicznego i turystyki.
