Author Biographies

• Coen Heijes, University of Groningen, Netherlands

  Coen Heijes, PhD, teaches at the University of Groningen, the Netherlands. He completed MAs in Shakespeare Studies and in Shakespeare & Theatre at the Shakespeare Institute, University of Birmingham. He also holds MAs in English Literature and in Anthropology, and completed his PhD on the impact of history and culture on communication. He wrote/edited/participated in books on the abolishment of slavery, cross-cultural communication and performing early modern drama today. Journal publications include theatre reviews, interviews, and papers on the history cycle, the reception of Merchant, doubling and the use of music in performance in Shakespeare Bulletin, Multicultural Shakespeare, Theatre Journal, Cahiers Élisabéthains and Shakespeare.

• Renfang Tang, Audit University, Nanjing, China

  Renfang Tang is Associate Professor of English at the Department of English, School of Foreign Studies, Nanjing Audit University, China. She teaches Shakespeare, English Drama and Performance, British and American Literature. Her research areas include intercultural and comparative theatre studies, Shakespeare, theatre translation and Chinese theatre.

• Xu Jia, Beijing Institute of Technology, Beijing, China

  Xu Jia is Associate Professor of English Language and Literature in the School of Foreign Languages, Beijing Institute of Technology, Beijing, China. She teaches English Literature, Shakespeare and Discourse Analysis. She is the author of a Chinese monograph: Childhood and Coming-of-Age in Shakespeare’s Plays (2016).

  Qiao Xueying is Associate Professor of English Literature at the Department of English and Institute of Shakespeare Studies, Donghua University, Shanghai, China. She teaches Shakespeare plays, American Literature, and Literary Translation.
