Abstrakt

The object of my interest is the stereotype of the old maid in XIX century. I would like to define the spinsterhood, present a stereotyped figure of an old maid and illustrate its caricatural attributes. What was the reason that in the social judgment the spinsterhood was seen to be negative? Where did they find causes of not getting married? What eccentricities ascribed old maids? What was the process of the journalistic ‘battle’ of the fighting prejudices against old maids of ? There are prior questions.
