Abstrakt

Decyzja Zgromadzenia Ogólnego ONZ z 29 listopada 1947 r. o podziale Palestyny na dwa państwa spotkała się z niezadowoleniem państw arabskich. Jednym z tych krajów był Egipt. Toczyła się tam debata polityczna i społeczna na temat udziału w wojnie przeciwko Żydom, planowanej przez członków Ligi Państw Arabskich. Wynikało z niej, że kraj do wojny nie przystąpi, jednak egipscy politycy dokonali politycznej wolty i zdecydowali się na udział w kampanii. Decyzja ta była dla wszystkich zaskoczeniem. Wojna nie była wcześniej planowana jako realizacja zamierzeń politycznych i dyplomatycznych. Nie przygotowano na taką ewentualność społeczeństwa, a nawet armii.
