On the life wanderings of a middle-aged woman and her search for an existential place. A case study

The starting point for the considerations presented in the article was the phenomenon of wandering through life, manifested in the inability to settle down anywhere permanently and the resulting movement from place to place. In an attempt to explore this phenomenon, the case of a woman in her forties was examined, and the research approach was inspired by the biographical method and hermeneutic phenomenology. Analysis of the biographical narrative revealed the experiences that made up her wandering, mainly related to settling in certain places for shorter or longer periods of time and the narrator’s recurring sense of existential homelessness. It also turned out that these experiences are likely to be underpinned by deeper structures that determine how she organizes them and gives them meaning.
