The Situation of Foreign Unaccompanied Minors (MENA) in Spain

The increasing number of immigrants in many regions has created different challenges that host countries have to deal with. The phenomenon of foreign unaccompanied minors, that come mostly from Africa, is one of the dimension of this problem. This article analyses the social profile of these immigrant groups in Spain, that shelters them, and shows some actual determinants of their situation on the Iberian Peninsula. The article focuses on how the State and local authorities respond to the challenges for the foreign unaccompanied minors, paying attention to institutional efforts to regulate their situation and make their lifes more stable and safe.
