Abstract

The article explores the phenomenon of crisis identity and the emotions accompanying the awareness of climate catastrophe. The author describes the difficulty of defining ecological grief—an emotional response to environmental degradation and species extinction. She highlights related concepts such as solastalgia, eco-anxiety, and eco-shame. She proposes support circles as a safe narrative space in which experiences can be shared and loss can be made sense of. These circles serve to normalize emotions and rebuild bonds and identity in the face of contemporary crises.
