Genesis and Early Activities of the Metaloplastyka Cooperative in Lodz

Abstract

In 1950 the Metaloplastyka cooperative was established in Łódź – it included metalwork, goldsmithing, stamp making and other workshops. This allowed the cooperative’s production to be directed towards silver and metal jewellery and accessories. In the first years of its existence, subsequent jewellery and metalwork workshops were added to the cooperative, and it was included in various cooperative structures in Poland. In 1958, it finally became part of the Headquarters of the Folk and Artistic Industry (Centrala Przemysłu Ludowego i Artystycznego – CPLiA), and its products from that time are included in the jewellery catalog published in 1957.
