Abstract

Trying to state when the beginning of anthropological research in Cracow took pince we should relate to the program of the Anthropological Committee of the Academy of Arts and Sciences founded in 1874. The present article contains description of results of the first investigations performed according to the program by J. Majer and I. Kopernicki. These investigations made over a hundred years ago are distinct for their modern way of scientific approach and the scope of authors' interests. Results of these first studies are still in use as a basis of reference for works of similar type.
