The incipit can answer a series of questions that concern the issues of autobiographical play in a life story. It may include a cultural data pact, where readings from the autobiographer are displayed. These data are intended to trace a writer’s orientation towards writing. It is sometimes based on strategies of ambiguity vis-à-vis a reader surprised in the face of vagueness. The incipit, in this case, shows an autobiography based on a dialogue with a double. This text is a comparative reading of two incipit, Les mots by Jean-Paul Sartre and Enfance by Nathalie Sarraute.
