What is Scimago Journal & Country Rank?

Scimago Journal & Country Rank is an international ranking of academic journals based on citation and visibility data for journals indexed in the Scopus database. This system analyzes over 34,000 journals from around the world, assigning positions in the rankings using a complex PageRank algorithm.

Place in the ranking

A Q1 quartile rank in the Scimago index means that the journal is among the top 25% of journals in its subject category. BSL ranked 178th (3rd among titles from Poland) out of 838 journals in the Philosophy category.

In 2024, Bulletin of the Section of Logic achieved a CiteScore of 1.1, placing the journal in the 74th percentile in the Arts and Humanities – Philosophy category.

What is CiteScore?

CiteScore is a citation impact metric. It is calculated by dividing the number of citations received by a journal over the past four years (including the year the score is reported for) by the number of documents published in that same four-year period. The 2024 CiteScore results cover citations and publications from 2021–2024.

CiteScore is a non-standardized indicator, meaning it does not account for differences between disciplines. Therefore, it should not be used to compare journals across different subject areas.

To assess a journal’s impact within its field, percentile values should be taken into account.

Place in the ranking

The relative standing of the journal in its specific subject field is indicated by percentiles calculated from the journal's CiteScores. A journal can be evaluated in more than one discipline.

The 74th percentile for BSL means that the journal is ranked among the top 26% of philosophy journals indexed in Scopus.

Web of Science: Journal Impact Factor 2024

The Bulletin of the Section of Logic, indexed in ESCI since 2024, has received its first Journal Impact Factor, with a value of 0.6.

What is the Journal Impact Factor?

JIF is a citation indicator based on Web of Science metrics. Its value is calculated by dividing the number of citations received in the most recent year to articles published in the two previous years by the total number of articles published in the journal during those same two years.

Similarly to the CiteScore, the JIF is a non-standardized indicator. To assess a journal’s impact within a specific discipline, it is necessary to take into account its percentile rank and quartile placement.

Place in the ranking

Based on the 2024 JIF, BSL has a percentile rank of 57.4, placing the journal in the second quartile within the “Logic” category.

This means the journal is among the top 50% of highest-ranked journals in its field.
