Physical development of children and youths from the town of Luboń

Abstract

An evaluation of the current state of physical growth was made on grounds of anthropometric measurements of 282 boys and girls from the town of Luboń situated close to the city of Poznań. Results were compared to those obtained for children from Poznań in order to find whether chemical industry pollution characteristic for Luboń (site of great chemical plants influences physical development. On grounds of statistical analysis it has been found that eventual changes related to air pollution are so small that do not reflect Itself In anthropometric measurements subjected to a standard statistical analysis (comparison of arithmetic means, standard deviations and the like).
