Abstract

On 72 human foetus of either sex in their 9th to 40th week of development, the morphological structure of the muscle peroneus brevis was examined both descriptively and metrically. The results obtained in the foetus were compared with those from adults. It is found among others that the peroneus brevis muscle in foetus ontogenesis is characterised by an extensive initian insertion of the posterior intermuscular membrana; a strong variability of the terminal insertion; a long venter and a relatively short sinew. The development of the majority of this muscle's characteristics proceeds most intensively until the 20th week of the foetus development. In dimorphic and assymetric differences of the various marks of this muscle occur during the whole foetal period.
