Meaningful work: why does it matter for organizations?

economic development, job involvement, meaningful work, organizational behaviorAbstract
In the paper, based on data from the study entitled Work Orientations, carried out in 2015 as part of the International Social Survey Programme, we managed to confirm that the meaningful work significantly affects the level of job involvement (and this is impact is greater than satisfaction with the conditions in which the work takes place). Moreover, we have noticed a significant correlation between meaningful work and the level of GDP per capita (of the country, in which the respondents were employed). In trying to interpret this relation, we came to conclusion that the ability of organization to maintain and shape meaning of work can indirectly affect economic development.
