Anti-plagiarism policy

Anti-plagiarism Policy

Concerned about the prestige of the journal, the editors of Text Matters: A Journal of Literature, Theory and Culture make every effort to ensure that the articles published in it are original and represent the highest scientific quality. Therefore, we attach great importance to, among others, the issue of plagiarism, as its late detection can cause significant damage, including reputational damage, not only to the author but also to their affiliated institution, to the given periodical or its publisher.

The journal Text Matters employs rigorous procedures to ensure the originality of all published scientific work. We utilize the Similarity Check system, a leading plagiarism detection tool, to compare submitted articles against a vast database of online manuscripts. This software provides near-instantaneous feedback, highlighting any similarities to existing publications. Importantly, the reports generated by this system are carefully reviewed by our editorial team. This human review is crucial, as the report may identify similarities that are not plagiarism, such as correctly quoted material, properly formatted references, and legitimate use of common phrases. Our editorial team is trained to distinguish between these instances and actual plagiarism.

The system meets all relevant data protection regulations and confidentiality standards, including GDPR.
