Derived Anglicisms, Abbreviations and Pseudo-Anglicisms in the Diccionario del léxico juvenil en España (2023)

Abstract

This article analyzes the anglicisms derived in the Diccionario del léxico juvenil en España (2023), by María Luisa Regueiro Rodríguez, from the morphological point of view, the diffusion of English abbreviations in written language and the phenomenon of pseudo-anglicisms in this lexicographic repertoire. There is currently a greater familiarity with the English language among young people, which is reflected in the high number of non-adapted loanwords they use. Similarly, it can be observed in the existence of a large number of derived forms, where orthographic and suffix variety are two of the main features. Related to them is the creativity of young people to form new words, to introduce foreign suffixes, to change original meanings and other phenomena mentioned in this paper.
