Abstract

Osteological material elaborated by the authors originates from an archaeological site of Bożejewice. This site consists of 3 cemeteries: a barrow (grave 4 32) dated at the end of Neolithic, on-barrow burials dated at proto- -bronze subperiod of the Early Bronze Age (fig. 1), and a part of cemetery (grave + 5) dated at II and III period of Bronze Age. This paper contains morphological characteristics of remains of 11 individuals from among 33 distinguished by means of anthropological analysis (tables 1 & 2). Distribution of deceased by age has been established with use of actual number of subadults found at the cemetery (table 4), and after correcting for their underrepresentation in the material excavated (table 6). Furthermore odontological characteristics of 8 individuals were observed in form of mesiodistal (M- ( and. buccolingual (B-L 2) dimensions of teeth (table 8). Limited number of remains and their state of preservation do not allow to make any comparisons with other groups as well as estimation of intragroup variability. It may be only .concluded ihat basic characteristics and age distribution of adults do not differ excessively from those observed in other Central European populations dated at the Bronze Age.
