Abstract

This article intends to shed light on the political and security developments in Yemen that ultimately resulted in the Saudi-led military operation in this country. It discusses the political background behind the Yemeni revolu­tion of 2011, its positive outcome in the shape of the results of the National Dialogue Conference and the reasons for the collapse of the efforts to sta­bilize Yemen.

Author Biography

Jakub Sławek, Free-lance analyst

A graduate of Arabic Studies in Cracow, he worked for Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Jemen, Algieria, Saudi Arabia. He published two books: Je­men – świat wartości plemiennych (Jemen – a world of tribal values) (Ibidem 2008) and Polsko-arabski słownik wyrażen politycznych i dyplomatycznych (Polish-Arabic Dictionary of Political and Diplomatic Expressions) (Uniwersytet Śląski 2016) and more than ten academic articles.
